An afternoon well spent
Since I met my husband, hiking has become a regular part of our life. I did not grow up going on hikes! I was a full on adult in my late 20’s before I ever really hiked. I’ve always enjoyed nature and walking so it’s a bit of a wonder I wasn’t doing this earlier in my lifetime. In the years we have been together we have hiked mountain trails, lake trails, city trails, but by far my favorite is desert trails. The larger than life cacti, the narrow trails where you need to pay attention to where you are stepping, the big Southwestern sky, It’s all pure heaven. We usually prefer to hike in the early morning as the trails are less crowded. You will often hear my exclaim about a hike “it was GREAT! There was no one there!” In the desert hiking in the morning becomes necessary at certain points in the year because it is just.too.hot to go in the afternoon. On our last trip to Arizona we went to Tucson, and just down the road there were some small trails. We decided to do an evening hike for a change and it was simply magic, watching that big old sun setting on the horizon.
