Every spring as we approach the magic time that is Summer I start to think of all the things I hope to do with the longer daylight and warmer temperatures. I think back over what we did the year before and enjoyed and what things we wanted to do and never did. I begin making a mental list of my summer wishes. This year I want to bake a berry pie, which is something that has been on every summer list, but has yet to happen. Cobblers and crisps, yes. A pie, still no. I want to lake swim and take my paddle board out more. I’m fairly new to it and I love my time spend on the water. For me it is more meditative than sport and I anticipate the good vibes that are sure accompany any time on the water. I want to spend more time outside in the evening, reading or just looking at the sky and waiting to hear the crickets. Hikes and picnics are always on the list and I want to compile a summer playlist. I want to take a river rafting trip offered in our city, take more pictures of the sunlight, walk more slowly because it’s too hot to go fast. Visit our famers market more regularly and eat up all that good fresh and local food. And at least once I want to get a Peanut Buster Parfait from the DQ, because that just reminds me of being a kid. I’ve also picked up a copy of the Diary of Anne Frank and plan to read it out loud with my son in the afternoons, when we are feeling hot and lazy. What activities do you most look forward to in Summertime?
